Maple Pecan Cereal Bars (Gluten Free!)
recipes ·
Made with our maple pecan marshmallows and Honey Bunches of Oats Maple Pecan + Brown Sugar cereal! Seriously one of our most delicious fall treats.
*most people say that adding homemade marshmallows to cereal treats makes the cereal either soggy or stale. This problem is caused by homemade mallows having more moisture in them than store-bought brands. We recommend following this method, and cutting the marshmallows into small pieces, giving them extra time to dry out. Our treats turned out great!
Ingredients:
- 4 Tbsp. (½ stick) Butter
- 6 cups (1 box) Maple Pecan marshmallows, cut into small pieces*
- 8 cups Honey Bunches of Oats Maple Pecan + Brown Sugar cereal
- Optional: ½ cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Spray an 8” or 9” pan and set aside.
- Melt the butter In a large non-stick pot, set over low heat. The butter should melt slowly, if you hear it bubbling, turn down the heat, until mostly melted.
- Add the marshmallows to the pot, stirring at low heat until they start to fuse together and melt. Turn off heat.
- Moving quickly, add the cereal to the pot, folding it together with the marshmallow mixture, until fully incorporated. Optional: add in the mini chocolate chips.
- Pour treats into prepared pan. Spray hands with non-stick spray and use them to press the treats into the pan. Freeze to chill.
- When ready to serve, thaw to room temperature and cut into bars or squares.
Treats are best served same-day, but leftovers can be kept for a few days in an airtight container.
These sweet and savory treats are the perfect taste of fall, and are great if you are always on the go go go like we are. We promise these bars won't hang around for long in your house once the word gets out. We set them on the table in our kitchen, and they had all vanished (into tummies!) by the end of the day.
XOXO,
